CINCINNATI (AP) -- Bengals receiver Chris Henry wasn't sure whether he'd play again this season after he broke his arm during a 17-7 victory over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.
Henry broke his left forearm just above the wrist when he was tackled by cornerback Fabian Washington after a 20-yard reception. Henry's back hit the ground and Washington landed on top of him. A replay showed the forearm bowing slightly.
He knew immediately that the injury was severe.
"I was about to get up and I felt my arm (hurt)," Henry said. "Then I noticed it was broken."

As if the slumping
Redskins needed any more bad news, running back
Clinton Portis left Washington's game in the first quarter
after suffering a concussion.
Portis took a couple of hard shots on a running play, with Atlanta's
Chevis Jackson and
Thomas DeCoud each landing blows -- at least one of which appeared to be helmet-to-helmet. No penalty was called on the play.
Portis stayed down on the field at the end of the play, then walked unsteadily to the sideline. He sat on the Redskins' sideline with a towel over his head while backup running back
Ladell Betts replaced him. Jason Campbell threw an interception on the next play that was returned by the
Falcons'
Tye Hill for a touchdown.

All indications out of Philadelphia this week were that running back Brian Westbrook would play on Sunday night against Dallas, a little less than two weeks after
suffering a Grade 3 concussion. The situation appears to have changed, though.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Westbrook will not play against the Cowboys so he can have another week to recover from his rather serious head injury.
Westbrook was hurt in the Eagles' Week 7 Monday night win at Washington, when he slammed his head into Redskins linebacker London Fletcher's knee on a running play. Westbrook lost consciousness and said later that he had no memory of the play.

In what will surely be a big blow to the
Colts' very solid pass defense, Indianapolis starting cornerback
Marlin Jackson confirmed Thursday that
he has torn his ACL and will miss the rest of the season. The unfortunate injury reportedly occurred on the last play of Wednesday's practice -- it's the
second straight year that Jackson's suffered a season-ending ACL injury.
The timing is especially bad for the Colts, as they gear up to face the league's third-ranked passing attack this weekend, in the
Houston Texans. This also further jumbles the situation as to who will guard superstar wideout
Andre Johnson, considering
Kelvin Hayden is also banged up for the Colts.
The timing for Jackson is actually worse than it is for his team. He's scheduled to be a free agent at the conclusion of the 2009-2010 season and he likely won't be healthy enough to prove himself until most teams will have filled their most pressing depth chart needs.

Anquan Boldin, when healthy, is one of the best wide receivers in the
NFL. This isn't a secret. He's been to three Pro Bowls, enjoyed four 1,000-yard seasons, caught more than 500 passes thus far in only 87 games and scored 41 touchdowns. He's a running back in a receiver's body, though, so he has endured his fair share of injuries -- missing 16 games in his first six seasons due to injury. This season, he's played every game, but he's done so at less than 100 percent.
Looking at his numbers, it's evident he's not himself. His per-game averages show Boldin's on pace for career lows across the board. And he just doesn't seem himself, either. Considering his ankle injury isn't going away without rest -- and the fact that the gamer Boldin won't voluntarily sit out -- should the
Cardinals bench him until he's healthy?
One Arizona columnist says they should.

No one will ever accuse
Hines Ward of being soft on the football field.
He's caught passes over the middle with busted ribs; he's been dragged off the field by the training staff only to return and put his body on the line again. He regularly blocks defensive ends that outweigh him by 70 pounds and he's somehow stayed healthy despite being every defensive back's top target. So when Hines Ward
says that if he was Ryan Clark, he wouldn't play this weekend, it means something.

If the
Eagles want to do what's best, both for themselves and Brian Westbook, they'll sit the banged-up running back Sunday against the
Giants.
Westbrook took a scary hit Monday night in Washington and left Philadelphia's win with a concussion. Eagles coach Andy Reid confirmed later that Westbrook both lost consciousness and had no memory of the play, where Westbrook's head slammed into the knee of
Redskins linebacker
London Fletcher.
Art Bartolozzi, the former team physician for the Eagles and the
NHL's
Philadelphia Flyers,
told the Philadelphia Inquirer that injuries like Westbrook's are serious.

Mark Jones lost the
Titans' return job during the preseason because he couldn't stay healthy. Now he's lost it again because of yet another hamstring injury.
Tennessee
put Jones on injured reserve with a hamstring injury and signed ex-
Jaguars returner
Alvin Pearman to replace him, a week after Jones' injured his hamstring again. The decision to put Jones on injured reserve is a pretty strong sign that the Titans aren't very concerned about losing him -- there was a chance Jones would be healthy in four to six weeks, but considering how often he's injured his hamstring this year, the Titans decided it was better not to wait on him to get healthy.
